Thank you; like so much of what you post, this was interesting and thought-provoking. Even if I don't have anything interesting to say in response at the moment...well, except that, yes, gender non-conformity is so often used as an insult. (I'm cisgendered, heterosexual, etc...and grew up not being permitted to wear skirts, with the implied--perhaps explicit, though I'm not sure--message that my being overweight and plain somehow meant I didn't "count" as female, at least not enough to wear "feminine" clothes. And other comments, from people outside the family.)
