My legs _hate_ me.

Today I _will_ order more headshots and register for stage combat (swordfighting 101). Also my regency dress pattern (for which I am having a hard time coming up with a color scheme, although I've decided very specifically on the style I want). What's nice is they don't take too much yardage, and as such I can use more expensive fabrics than I normally would. I also need to find the pattern I want for the one thing I have to make for my Halloween costume, but it's a relatively minor bit of sewing (compared to a dress anyway), so it's hardly a priority.

I feel less motivated than I would like, but I also feel like I am rushing less - a benefit on taking instruction in anything, generally.

I think I am in one of those stages where I am finding new and exciting distractions in lieu of actually being able to take an actual break. That's okay. I've done a lot of bizarre things out of a sense of whimsy in my life and every single one of them has eventually proved useful on some level, anticipated or not. As far as I'm concerned, I'm just keeping with a theme.

In other news, I owe a lot of people email (the thing about email is that it's like living too close to a restaurant you're meeting people at -- you can get there so quickly, it's easy to leave after the time you were already supposed to be there and be late), and barring a complete inability to cope, I will get on that tonight.

Hopefully I'll get the tickets for Germany in my hands today or tomorrow so I can know if this is really happening. It's causng me a decdent amount of background stress for a range of reasons.
Who knew Garrison Keillor was so angry? And so right?

Hands down one of the best things I've read on the current situation.

I am, in fact, really, actually going to Germany.

I have a passport appointment on the 17th, they will put it into my hands on the 20th and I fly on the 21st (or possibly the 22nd) returning either on the 24th (late) or the 25 (early) so my mom doesn't kill me.

Stressed?

You bet. But I'm excited. Eventhough it's for my crappy day job, I'm telling you, I'm treating this as the beginning of my jet setting life.
Because I code magazines at work, my desk is littered with subscription cards that I rip out because they are annoying. Invariably, I use these as scraps of note paper, and they are mostly covered with the oddest snippets of random thought, that include book titles, article cites, random headlines that amuse me, and snatches of phrases I've no doubt intended to use in some story or other but that have gotten away from me, or are still in search of their place.

Every few days or so I look at the cards, and am amused by the degree ot which they seem to be a secret map to an unlnown place, all because of their mundanities and the fact that I've forgotten their original purpose.

Found on a single card today:

... Generation War!
... "greetings from the filthy and astounding continent"
... TSA SecureLock
... Campaign goes from somewhat strange to totally wacky
... "pleasure, pennance and precision"

It occurs to me that other people might sift through these things on my desk, and that I've no defense, nor do I know on what grounds I need it, but it's an instinctual thing that people shouldn't see the messy background processes of my brain.

FYI those are: a book title, something random likely not to be used but was a product of my thinking on something that might be interesting if it solidifies, a product I want (it lights up if the TSA opens your bags so you know if your checked luggage has been searched), a Chicago Tribune headline from early August, something that wound up getting edited out of a fanfic (and wasn't btw porn related despite those words).
