Nov. 10th, 2004 08:29 amSo I watched part of Mystic River last night, until the disc was too scratched too continue -- I was _really_ unimpressed and my expectations weren't even high. I just wasn't buying any of it. Does it actually go somewhere surprising at some point? Do the performances actually ever solidify to the point that everyone at least seems like they're in the same movie? Not impressed.
Also, found the Regency corset I want finally (the Patricia from PeriodCorsets.com), but it's a lot (I expect corsets to be expensive, but because Regency corsets are less structured than other periods, I somehow thought they they wouldn't be as much). So it's back to finding things to sell on Ebay I think. (Speaking of Ebay, having discovered the wonder of all the random wholesalers around the corner from my office in the course of having to put together two Regency-era costumes in October, I'm currently harbouring fantasies of buying a digital camera, becoming a professional Ebayer and getting away from the crazy Germans).
Riding yesterday went pretty well. I didn't get as stressed as I thought I would from the break and from the fact that the horse I ride is the one who kicked (what happened was that the horse was trying to kick another horse, which my instructor was on and got her foot instead). The trotting is still baaaad, but it was actually the first time I'd done it in about a month. I get freaked and lean too far forward, because as I was sitting back up to get the horse to stop there was one brief moment where it felt fine, but I was already stopping him by then. Certainly, I need to find a relationship with the horse and the trotting that is something other than a politically incorrect romance novel -- because mixed signals may work for boys in bad books ("oh, oh no... no, I couldn't ... I'm so frightened... you brute...! oh... okay."), but they don't work with horses (horse says, "buh?"). Also, am discovering that because my legs are still bonier than I think, that if I'm not careful I only grip the saddle with my knees when I try to post, and then the knees act as a pivot and it doesn't work.
