From the NYT:

Invoking a global threat of terrorism, the British government announced plans on Tuesday to introduce national identity cards for the first time since the World War II era. An opposition legislator said the government wanted to create a "climate of fear" in advance of elections expected next year.
Holy crap the Alexander reviews are bad. Like I haven't seen reviews this bad since Chronicles of Riddick. Kat told me someone actually compared the film disfavourably to Heaven's Gate! What's interesting is that amongst all the "this is so awful" is a lot of whining about the gay. Conservative groups will no doubt be rejoicing at this, and if the film does manage to flop will atribute it to American's good moral values as opposed to vague common sense about film quality. Seeing it tonight. Imagine I'll be whispering "hold me I'm scared" to friends over the awfulness of it. I mean, apparently Jared Leto gives the only credible performance? How does that work out?

Great Rottentomatoes page. Some of it is really funny: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/alexander/
