Just checking in because it's weird when I've so little to say. But I'm in serious crunch time on my lines, and things keep coming up that distract me from being able to wage that war, and it's all extraordinarily frustrating. I have so much writing I want to do (not really LJ related) besides, but I can't see it happening until at least the March 8th play has passed.

I sent out postcards to every commercial print photog in the city yesterday, and have to send out flyers for my show today, have an audition tomorrow, and am finally going to write the "hi, I'd like you to be my agent," letters probably this weekend. This fills me with some small degree of dread since it's been made clear to me that finding an agent involves little more than being told you're fat, ugly or stupid over and over again, even when (especially when?) you're a size 4, have been a on a billboard and have an IQ and a half.

The best thing about doing a show in Hoboken? Tastee Cakes.

P.S. I finally bought yoga shoes the other day. My life (despite not doing yoga) will never be the same. Oh my god, so comfortable, so stylish, and they kept me warm in the snow for some reason -- I have to figure out how to wash them now, and they're tan and got crud on them. But now I understand why everyone is wearing these things. Oh oh oh oh oh. And they are really the cutest. I sort of wish I had them in Sydney, because I can feel the floor in them but without my shins getting achy as they do in most flats., also _everyone_ wears them there all the time, but they're like ungodly expensive. DSW is the best. These are Ralph lauren and they were under $40 -- the Adidas and Puma ones I've been considering are at least twice that.

I saw the above photo of Cate Blanchett for the first time today in the course of my day job. And it's been stuck in my head ever since, because it's so clearly one of those accidental lucky photos, that peeks behind the curtain just a little. Look at that walk. Of course we all know the red carpet is performance, but there it is, proof positive.

Celebrity photography so rarely includes what makes photography great, which is the sense, not just of the moment in the photograph, but of the moment just after. By the time we see a still image, even in this digital age, the conclusion of the story began in the photo has already been decided, and good photos show that inexorable march towards the finish line, even as when they were taken the conclusion remained unknown.

Such a great image.
