Sinfully tired, even if I can be really grateful to have gotten off of set hours earlier than anticipated. I suspect tomorrow will be bad.

Did get some writing done, although it's hard with the noise and the crowded tables and the way people are just nosy, whether out of boredom or opportunism. There's a lot I don't know about the world of thise piece yet, and there are some critical structure problems I just don't have the answer to right now (or have more answers than are useful. So I decided to just write for a while, in the voice of the main character, even if the book will mostly be a third person narrative, just to figure out what he deems important and to see if I could ascertain more things about the world that way. This is useful. On one hand, it's not very good, not very precise, and I am hesitant to post it. On another though, it starts to solve things, and it has cadence and humour and sorrow, and I'm glad for the promise of a three-dimension voice, even if it might not be clear yet to a reader. One detail, that's disturbing, but not important to the tale (other than my character mentions it a lot, but I have no idea what it has to do with the narrative) got a lot more detail tonight. I suspect it will continue to. I could perhaps do with less. At any rate, it'll be in a locked post, mostly for myself as my ability to read my handwriting degrades pretty quickly. There will be a time and place for critique (and believe me there's miles of it to offer here), but this is an exercise at present, not the actual project.

There's this howling outside. It doesn't sound like the cat that usually howls. More like a four-year-old trying to sound like a Sicilian woman at a funeral. It's maybe more than I can take.

My call today isn't even until 3, which means it should be a late night (the way it's been going possibly 5am late). And what was three days of work next week, is now five. Honestly, this is obviously a good thing -- me making real money doing what I love to do and a time when other sources of revenue are a bit dubious. But I am tired, and I still haven't really found a balance with the food thing (other than being as careful as I can, being a little sick and taking pepto). I've made friends with a few poeple on the set though, recruited a new dancer for EAS, and run into the girl I directed in my two-person show. That said, because of the hours and the away-from-keys factor, I always find this work oddly isolating, and it's wearing me down a bit.

Meanwhile, AC stuff, some typos, but improving:
