Look what's right near fencing!

http://www.babycakesnyc.com/the_bakery.html

I will shop before and eat after as reward for the hard work. Yes.
I am still struggling with this sinus/tension headache thing. I don't know what my body is doing and clearly, neither does it. It's inconvenient certainly.

Yesterday I learned There were pugs on Arakis. I love the Internet, oh yes I do.

So remember when we were all cooing over eShakti? Did ayone else actually order from them? How did that go? they finally got my fabric in in the right color and say the garment will be done in 2 - 3 days and then shipped. All of this having taken months as opposed to 15 days. they've been communicative and polite and it does seem like a flukey thing, but woah! I am totally within my rights to see if I can get a discount on a future order from them, yeah?

Descensus RSN. Really. And it's goooood. And it's Snape and Lily snooping around yucky pureblood traditions. Am I building your excitement?

Also are you my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide Santa? I promise to write you something useful about my wishlist soon.

My legs really hurt from dance yesterday, but since 80% of fencing is spent with my legs bent, I won't actually feel the strain in my calves in class. I sort of can't get over getting to live this life, this week in particular. It would be nearly impossible to exist on relatively the same plane of sanity as, you know, most of the rest of the planet and live more in my little historic fantasy world than I am this week -- dance, fencing, herbalism, ha!

rrrrr

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it is:

- a conspiracy
- a fraud
- evil
- out to destroy your way of life

This includes everything from mutual funds to homosexuals.

Thank you.

In fact, I am particularly sick of people ranting about the evils of capitalism not because it's not evil (it's pretty easy to argue that it is) but because they don't understand it. Informed ranting on why capitalism doesn't work (I basically think that all economic systems fail to execute ideally (and and increasingly unideally) as scale increases) is fine. But the paperwork for your 401K being unclear, while an evidence of many things including poor business writing for business people and poor economic education for everyone in general, is not a secret strategy to break the law, defraud you, or enable the overthrow of the U.S. by barbarian hordes.

No wonder I've had a headache for a week.
Today I had to explain to someone who is a big David Bowie fan his career in the 70s and 80s. They had never heard of Ziggy Stardust or the Thin White Duke or any of it. Which I suppose just goes to show how good he is that this reinventing the self or something. It came up re: The Prestige and why casting him as Tesla is so cool.

I, meanwhile, am listening to My Chemical Romance which is entirely one of those bands that both isn't very good and that I'm way too old to be listening too, but they know what they're doing even in their mediocrity. Also, great band name.

I also had to explain the electoral college, AGAIN.

I despair. I despair.
Babycakes is not open on Monday! So I have to wait until Wednesday for GF goodies.

Fencing was good. I'll probably be in less pain tomorrow than last time. although it seems unwise to even dare think it, I have glimmers of feeling capable at this.

Meanwhile, in big news! I will be reading some [livejournal.com profile] descensus_hp stuff at Phoenix Rising. Yay! This is big excitement and really thrilling. Getting the workshop accepted pleased my brain, but this my heart.

I have a really special life. I'm not always peaceable with it, but seriously, cool as shit my world.

Meanwhile, LJ comments to other people's posts seem to have reply comments mailed immediately, but reply comments to my own posts seem to remain lost in the ether.

For those of you wanting to keep up on the fencing thing, please be logged in or ask to be friended. For reasons related to my emotional landscape and the inevitability of small world theatre, any details about that will be friends-only.
