crazy day

Feb. 16th, 2007 09:46 am
Today I have work, a stop at a conference to see Kali speechify, a visit to another job hoping they have my check since I have just a sliver of money in my bank account, a bit of technical chaos to solve and a last minute visit to the post office on hand. Weirdly, I'm not full of dread. Just need to get it done. Ah, but if this were March, I'd be fencing today.

Speaking of which, I had a ridiculous fencing dream last night, that I knew was ridiculous in the dream. One of the fencers called me about something and the jist of the dream was my being bewildered by that.

Meanwhile, I can't find my hairbrush.

So the University that I do some work for munged my paycheck and I'll be getting a _big_ one -- in two weeks! For now, I have $16 in my bank account, a fridge full of groceries (thank god) and other pay arriving Tuesday. Looks like it will be a poverty weekend of cleaning, writing, fencing pratice, laundry and the like. It's all fine really, but it still gives me anxiety (these days more than in the past as it's hard for me to eat appropriately on very little money). This should have never happened.

ETA: At least I can go to this:

English Sword Dancing Festival presented by Half Moon Sword

Sword dancing is a winter celebration that has come down through the
ages from the coal-mining regions of northern England. The Festival
will feature 12 teams from all over the US performing both stately
long sword dancing and lively rapper sword dancing, accompanied by
live music. Performances will be at various places in Manhattan on
Saturday (including at Port Authority and the Museum of the City of
NY) and in Brooklyn on Sunday (including at the Brooklyn Museum).
Check Website for specific times and locations.

Chief benefit of dressing like a boy so much? More clothes with pockets. More clothes with pockets means more opportunities to find forgotten cash. I'm now looking at a $20 which will pay for apple cider and goatcheese at the farmers market tomorrow, as well as getting my laundry done, and it makes a world of difference.

One of this week's somewhat plaguing tasks has been completed; also a plus.

I'm trying to relax now, but I have more work to do tonight and will be going into the office both tomorrow and Sunday to make up for that shortened pay period that is the second half of February. I'm tired and need a couple of quiet days, but if they will turn out that way remains to be seen.

Assuming I manage to detox tonight, there's lots of writing I want to play with. Kali and I are, for the record, very very close on the next _big_ chapter of Descensus, which is LUcius's birthday party.

Flipping channels. Las Vegas has a polygamy plotline tonight. What's up with the whole polygamy plotline thing lately?

Finally caught up on Rome last night. Man, Atia was a hottie in those furs. Also, is it possible for James Purefoy to look bad? I'm thinking not.
