If you like cocktails . . . wait, of course you like cocktails! Then you won't want to miss our deliciously TWISTED Cabaret at Lucky Jack's this Saturday, May 26th. TWIST is a new pop/rock musical by Gila Sand and Paul Leschen that puts a deliciously erotic and innovative spin on Dickens' famous tale. The show has recently received a 2007 Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Music, in a category otherwise populated by Legally Blonde, Spring Awakening and other Broadway productions.
In this fantasy of gay Victorian England, Dickens' orphan has grown into an attractive young man with a taste for trouble and other boys - all he's ever known at the Workhouse. Creating desire wherever he goes, Twist is wickedly caned by Mr. Bumble, strait jacketed at the Undertakers, and picked up on the street by a wolfish Artful Dodger, who brings Twist into an underworld household of pickpockets and prostitutes, ruled over by a Queen Bitch Domina - Fagin.
While incorporating exquisite drag, fetishism and camp humor, Twist remains surprisingly true to the original story, a tale of loneliness, dark adventure, and finally, redemption.
