I feel like I'm losing my mind and don't feel like rereading all of book 5 to find this -- can anyone point me to where we first get mention of the inquisitorial squad?
So I donated my DonorsChoose gift certificate to the project below, which is aimed at buying and installing a ballet barre in a dance classroom at a middle school in a high-poverty area that is trying to transform itself into an arts magnet school.

Why this project?

First, I like that the item in question is an infrastructure solution that will be used by hundreds of students for years if not decades. Long term, durable impact on lots of kids.

Second, this seemed much better than dance programs looking for ipods to play music on. I feel like the teacher knows what they are doing by looking at classical foundations.

You may ask how does ballet help kids in our schools when there are problems in all sorts of basic classes like math and English? For one thing, it's physical exercise, and it certainly seems we need more of that in all our schools. Additionally, these are kids who would probably never get access to the arts in classes outside of school, so this is an opportunity that absolutely matters. Additionally, ballet introduces them to French and requires real discipline; dance involves teamwork and creativity; and finally, dance is a way in which we confront our physical and emotional selves -- you sort of never know where it is going to lead.

This strikes me as the type of project that may not get lots of funding, because people don't see the arts as critical or related to academics, so I wanted to point it out to all of you, so if you feel the urge and have the means, please add even a small donation to help them reach their goal. I'm planning to give more myself.

- lots of stuff for lots of different work.
- various banking and bill tasks.
- last of New Haven trip paid/organized.
- donation I've been meaning to make forever to Lambda Legal.
- more book edit stuff (I should have galleys in the next 48 hours).
- listening to Kitty the Rose of Kirea on repeat.

Meanwhile, I have emails that have to get answered, but aren't getting answered now as I'm going to fencing. Hopefully those, my journal entry on yesterdays two events (the premiere and my horrid moment of identification with Sex in the City (fuck you, Mr. Big!)) and some writing for Gather will all get caught up on in the next 48 hours.

Also there is scads of Descensus to be doing, and there will be some new posts there soon.

Also I just need to get caught up on the backlog of EVERYTHING, if I even want to take a stab at NaNoWriMo -- which I'll probably do, but not complete, just as a way to get a lot done.

This weekend? Two dance classes and picking up several much needed pairs of new dance shoes.

Also baking cookies, some damn relaxation and perhaps, finally, getting the guest room in order, as I just realized I'm currently in the right cash flow location to get the rest of the bookcases we need and the loveseat/sofabed, which of course is an Ikea thing and will therefore be a Pain in the Ass and perhaps merits the finding of a plan B. If nothing else, we should really move the desk.

Okay, just writing this exhausted me. Thankfully, we get to sleep in tomorrow.
