Aug. 7th, 2008 09:46 amGreetings from Chicago. It's been hard, at first, to get back into the HP mindset, especially with me having decided for reasons only known after I decided not to bring any Snape cosplay to the con this year. I will, of course, no doubt return to portraying the man I've always been, at least at some point -- I mean, I do it so well, but I am not a broken-hearted 16-year-old boy right now and probably never will be again.
Last night, too tired to function or do anything at the con
marchek and I bought gellato at the supermarket and sat in a park and watched unexpected fireworks. I wish there was a way to talk about, without laughing the incredibly rhythm of drums factor of the reverb of the sound off the sky-scrapers at the end of the show. The world swelled. Even if the rest of the con is lame, I feel like I already have a perfect, fine and keen moment for being here.
My papers aren't really done, but my notes are solid.
I forgot my swimsuit and sports bra at home, but SINCE THE GERMANS PAID ME, I am going shopping today.
Patty, it turns out, won't be home until the 13th now, which is a bummer, but god, I am so excited for us to be settled in one place, at least for a bit. Also, I am keeping her mom happy, and we like to do that sort of thing, yeah?
Dances of Vice logistics are under control. Dragon*Con is handled. Work is fine, and I am fine.
Last night, I was in what I call the accidental Jack cosplay outfit (did my mother really buy me a fabulous green vest with eight billion cargo pockets last year for the holidays?) when we walked into the elevator at the hotel and I came face to face with twin stewardesses in little red suits who were giggling nervously to each other and I looked at Jill and said, "I can't tell you what I'm thinking right now." Made my night.
Thinking of going to a DW con while Patty is in Oman.
Life is good. Chicago is my friend.
