  • Since more than one of you might care: when T-Kingdom says if you're between sizes to order the larger size? they lie. Order the smaller size. I have to mail something back to frigging Taiwan on Monday.

  • Imaginary City was loads of fun.

  • Ooooo, Sanctuary on SyFy is like "how many different properties can be be embarrassingly derivative of?" Humans and Abnormals? Really? Are you sure you don't mean mutants?

  • I sorta need to be not so fascinated with Io Station that I'm paying attention to that rather than the thing it's a plot device for. But right now I'm really amused by it because Evan's character on it has a cute Russian nickname. This is me, going to hell.

  • I am remarkably organized for tomorrow. I've downloaded all the work I need to get done while we're away, written down all the addresses and locations and all and really just need to go to the dry cleaners and the Duane Reade in the morning, get us packed and out the door.

  • I have applied for a desk at The Center for Fiction for the duration of November for the novel, December for editing, and then probably for a couple of more months as I want to use their research library on the mourning rituals and fictional characters paper. I think it will force me to discipline myself and my schedule and provide an emotionally neutral place for work (which is really, really a big issue for writing something new to me that I'm not fully inhabited in yet). We'll see if they have space for me; published folks get priority, so that should help, but I also don't know how they'll feel about the academic thing, as I don't know how they feel about people writing _about_ fiction there instead of fiction itself.

  • I'm not a Stargate person, but I know why people are like WTF about SG:U (tonal quality shift, among other things), but because I'm not engaged with the show at all, sometimes I look up (it's my background noise) and have moments about it where I'm moved by it, not because I give a crap about any of the characters, but because in all its incredibly out of contextness to me, it reminds me of other stories I'm interested in or interested in telling.

  • Man, I frigging hate my period. I am in scads of pain.

  • I will do an official rec of this later, elsewhere, but this is the rec where I say things that don't make sense in the official rec: Standing In by [livejournal.com profile] lefaym. CoE spoilers and crap about me ) You know, at the end of the day, all recs are the same: this feels true, but seriously it's not an easy story.
  • New Haven!

So we're at this awesome B&B in the sense that the place is BEAUTIFUL, the room is huge, the bed is heavenly, etc etc etc. But the books! On the bookshelf! Ann Coulter! Why I Turned Right, Lies Women Believe, The Mystery Of Marriage, Campaigning for Christ! Oh boy... this is gonna be fun.
