  • Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm and support for [livejournal.com profile] graduate_maria. I'll post periodic updates and let you know when the bidding is open. Also, if you've sent me a message with questions, I'll get back to you by end of day.

  • Internet powers activate. James Moran is looking for a soldier he met on a flight in 2006. You see, he owes the man a drink.

  • Safehouses for LGBT Iraqis have been raided, and those found tortured and often murdered. This has been going on for a while, and the allied forces there continue to ignore it.

  • The Queen returns to Wimbledon.

  • A swarm of bees is trying to break into a bank.

  • Last night on Angel Wesley dumped Lilah and I feel awful about it. But more than that, I'm like "the only reason the incredibly abrupt choices people make on this show are justifiable is because they are all remarkably mentally ill." Also, I feel like way too much of the narrative relies on jealousy both with Gunn/Fred/Wesley and with Angel/Cordy/Connor, and in the endless stuff RTD stole from this show, I'm glad he didn't steel that.

I'm way more of an Angel person than a Buffy person, but last night I was really glad to get back to Buffy. The wish girl in the closet was devastating, and D'Hofran's price was cleverly executed. I also liked that we returned to a bit of the musical episode with Anya singing. Is this what Glee is like? I don't feel like I'm interested, but do people burst into song?

  • Do you want to meet up with me in London? Poll/logistics under the cut. Read more... )
  • Patty got a supercute haircut. Tomorrow we're going to the beach (we should start cooking our beach things soon), and Sunday is Pride.

All of which means we're going to be super-busy and more than a bit tired out from all the time in the sun.

Since I'm a bit cranky and am having fun with the way low blood sugar, my clumsiness and the heat interact with my heart condition and my mood (things that are possibly hot in fanfiction but really not hot in real life -- being covered in raspberry juice), I'm considering steering mostly clear of the Internet this weekend. We'll see if that actually turns out to be true.

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer voting is open from now until Sunday afternoon.
