I'm reluctant to say this, let alone be the first comment doing so, but what's the point of putting trigger warnings behind a cut? For the warning to, well, warn, one has to read it.

And people who want or need to read such warnings can then choose to do so.

The content of trigger warnings can be triggering for some people. Many people choose to put them behind a cut so someone who is having a day where they don't have the spoons to even think about this type of content doesn't have to. It is also a way to avoid spoiling narrative for those who would feel the information in the warning would do so.

I'm in one community where there's been a trend of cuts saying something is potentially triggering but not actually providing information (before or after the cut) that would enable one to make any sort of decision as to whether to continue and I couldn't figure out how it was possibly supposed to work. (I'm not sure it works in that community, but at least I can now see that the trend may be poor implemation of a reasonable idea.)
