I loved it in all of the ways you mentioned. I went to see Vin and I was not disappointed. Everyone in the movie seemed to understand it was a vanity project and not to take it too seriously... except for the black chick. she seemed to try really hard to be as dramatic as possible.
For me, this is a must have (by a gamer for gamers) bad movie.
