(no subject)

Is anyone watching CNN?
Does anyone know what to do with that bizarre exchange between Anderson Cooper and Jesse Jackson ("Iraq, it's not a word, Anderson, it's a country")?
I mean... why is Jesse Jackson such a freak?
And more importantly... god help me, but why oh why do I think Anderson Cooper is hot?

Because he IS.

(I guess that could answer *both* your questions. ;) )

yeah, but which one was it to, originally?

I mean, I know everyone agrees with me about Jesse Jackson being a freak.

My thing for Anderson Cooper disturbs me though (he's a newscaster; it's just wrong).

I originally meant it about Anderson Cooper (I think he's hot, too!), but, when I realized it was ambiguous what I was referring to, realized it also referred to Jesse Jackson being a freak.

Why's it disturb you to find a newscaster hot? I think part of his appeal is he comes off as smart... smart=sexy.

I dunno... to me newscasters are supposed to be practically translucent they're so bland, You're not supposed to register them, but the content. But this dude is hot! and smirks! And... it's just not right.

And my crushes are always weird. I hate that.

*laugh* I guess coming from a news background, I try to at least give *some* of them credit for having brains. Of course, I also know how much of a stretch that is for a lot of them. :P

The thing is, I sort of come from a news background too... albeit not television... The thing is, I want them to be boring. Dammit.

Heh. Now you've got me thinking about a network with just smirky hot news guys... Anderson Cooper... Jon Stewart (he's sort of a news guy, right?)... I can't decide who else should be a part of that.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2004-07-28 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I think I'm the only person amongst my friends who doesn't want to do Jon Stewart, but he can be on the smirky hot newsguy channel.

No, you're right. He's hot.

[identity profile] magicwoman.livejournal.com 2004-07-28 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure. . .but I always find my crushes are madly frustrating because they are usually people that no one else would consider to be hot at all. Go figure.

Jackson's time has passed.

My co-worker and I are listening to the convention here at work - we're wildly enthusiastic about Dennis Kucinich, Elijah Cummings and Al Sharpton's speaches. They were fabulous. Too bad we didn't have this level of excitement before or since the process began. Sigh.

You know the bizarre NYC-local political history of Al Sharpton right?

He seems vaguely rehabilitated, but I can't make myself give him the time of day.

I am aware of his bizarre history and would have never thought - ever that for whatever reason his politics align with mine - odd, but true. I am also drawn to charasmatic orators. These three are definitely charasmatic orators. It also could be my Southern upbringing - I'm used to his type of speech and enthusiasm.

When I was a guest on Anderson Cooper's show (and you know I'm only making this comment so I could say yet again that I was once a guest on Anderson Cooper's show), he was really smart and well prepared. What was even better, he took the time to make sure that we were well-prepared together -- he learned what I knew and what I didn't know about the topic, and as such the interview went smoothly, without the total humiliation I was half-expecting.

He also appeared to take himself very lightly. When putting on his makeup, when giving autographs to his adoring fans, he wore a slight "This is so much bullshit" smirk the whole time.

Yeah, see, it's all about the smirk. Always. With everyone. I'm just wretched that way.
