Who the fuck invented button-down collars and can we ban them (both the collars and the inventor) for the rest of human existence?

Also... guh... hot hot guy in Citarella today. But I had too many frozen goods to do anything but turn my head really really conspicuously. (let's note, for a moment that "hot hot guy" means "totally in keeping with my current fantasy life, and as such, probably not that hot to anyone but me").

Button-down collars, like ugly Velcro sneakers, should be allowed to exist only in the children's department. Once a kid is old enough to tie shoes and iron collars, no more of that.

It does make me happy that I know where in this town I can buy old-fashioned brass collar stabilizers. Someday I hope to persuade them, or even a bespoke tailor in London, to make me a man's pinstripe suit and a few shirts.
