It's that time of year again, and this year, it's really snuck up on me. When I saw the faintest trace of the tower ghost lights downtown I wondered what movie was opening until I got to a better vantage point and figured it out.
At any rate, immediately after 9/11 this was this flurry of "how do we expunge the towers from our collective use?" There were talks of DVDs being edited and released (AI came up frequently), beginnings of television shows being recut and the like. This all made me insane, and ultimately, after a few months, people stopped pressing for that sort of thing, and there they were again random background on random television.
The NYT has an article about it: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/09/nyregion/09blocks.html?8hpib
Meanwhile, there's been terrorism at the Australian embassy in Jakarta, news I actually got last night because I have the
sydneysiders community on my friends list and it was strange to get news from so far away via LJ as opposed to the Times the next day. *sigh*.

Funny considering I work two blocks away.
Maybe it's a sign that this year will be easier.
