In 1820 the largest economy in the world was China. #2? India. Sound familiar? Wish I knew more about 1820 to talk about it further, but that tidbit appeared in Fortune magazine in response to reader concern about the rise of Asian economic power.

In other news -- I'm going to Germany in about 10 days.

Lol. No. They're having a conference and I got asked if I wanted to go, and I said yes, because really, why the hell not. It's just for a few days, and gives me the means to get my passport on an emergency basis now (or rather when they get me my plane tickets) so that it's one less think I have to be focusing on around Australia.
