The Last Samurai could not be a more weirdly mediocre movie. Really frustrating. I so could have been into it, you know, except for the heavy handed script, terrible dialogue, simplistic handling of the racial issues and just general attempt to make the whole thing as predictable and emotionally bloodless as possible.

Two auditions today, too much on my schedule in the next two weeks (although the student film looks increasingly likely, but pushed back a week thank gods) and rain. Grah. And I'm totally cranky about not riding this week. (So cranky, I may turn down some background work next week, so I don't miss my lesson again -- my ridiing instructor teaches 7 days a week, with just two half days off, reschedules are impossible).

And I may be getting a cold.

I really enjoyed The Last Samurai. You're the second person recently who has said it was mediocre. I thought it was moving and beautiful.

Out of curiosity, have you seen Mona Lisa Smile? I'm having a disagreement with a friend about it. I'm curious what you thought of it.
