*squee* and rampant misuse of ellipses

Ah, what a day. Anxiety attacks, work drama, PMS and a hard-boiled egg that exploded in my general direction (God bless the imprecision of eggs).

But... also the first airing of the Baz Luhrmann Channel ad, which is about exactly what you would expect it to be. I'm not sure it works as an ad at all, which may be why it works, because you're like "what the devil is this?" but I'm way too into both his work and advertising in general to know how a consumer would view it. The voiceover is exactly what it should be, but also sort of annoying; if the ad winds up in heavy rotation, I know I'll be doing an obnoxious immitation of it inside of a week. Luhrmann's conception of New York is interesting, and I kinda want to see more of it (I lie... give me more now). First shot of Nicole Kidman on the red carpet is one of the most breathtaking things I've ever seen. Anyway, another fine example of "wow, directors have some really specific obsessions." Hrmmm.

(yo, record time right? I'm sooooo predictable)

Remember, in Cyberspace, no one can hear you squee. 8-)

...you come across a copy of the commercial online, I'd really appreciate it if you could post a link to your journal.

I too am an admirer of Mr. Luhrmann's work, but watch too little television to come across the ad by chance.

Thank you for your review.

I imagine there will be a link for you by the end of the day -- I should also ammend the above post to say I think I saw a one minute version of the ad, and that there is a longer one playing in cinemas apparently.

People have been having some problems with those, but one of them should work. I believe this is the two minute television version and not the three minute cinema version, but I'm not sure.
