Despite my misgivings the reading today was really fun. It was about a scandal surrounding Emily Dickinson's brother and his married lover (who was apparently in an open/polyamorous relationship), Mabel. I read Mabel, who was very much the lead (certainly, it was a lot of strain on my voice), and other than tripping over a word or two, felt very comfortable with it.

The play is very much a piece in progress, and is at that converting things from telling to showing stage, but the source material. Everyone complimented me on my voice a lot afterwards, and I'm very sensitive about my voice, and it's often hard for me to believe it's not my poorest asset, but I did believe them today, and was gracious and felt very solidyly confident about the work I did. Great great part. And exactly the muscle flexing I needed before Oz.

Sounds very interesting! I'm very much a fan of Emily Dickinson and was very fortunate and excited to see her niece perform a one-woman show at the Fringe two years ago.

Good luck!
