Yinka Dare died this year. A lot of you know the name as a basketball player that was supposed to be the NBA's next big thing and then really wasn't. I didn't know him well, but for me, he was just a softspoken kid in my junior year sociology class. The thing is, his story could be the subject of such a class. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/26/magazine/26DARE.html and I didn't know he had died this year until I read the piece this morning.
