(no subject)

quandry --

I've got a chance to audition for a play with a really really cool title ("cats can see the devil") and more than one part that would be a good fit for me.

It would however mean solidifying a comic monologue by Tuesday (something that has to happen anyway)
Doing said monologue (I loathe monologue auditions)
And juggling my schedule massively if I get it.

Right -- see now that I'm posting this, I'm like "oh, yeah I'm trying to talk myself out of this, but I should do it"

Feh. Well then.

Monologue auditions suck, always. Always.

There are some funny comic monologues in "The Eight", about Santa's reindeer (trust me) although I am not having a ton of luck finding the author ... so this might be the most useless suggestion ever ...

My roommate found this hysterical one for me about a date from hell, that I was theoretically learning a couple of weeks ago when I had houseguests, and should probably reapply myself to.

And I'm glad the monologue thing gives everyone hives, because I feel like such a looser about it.

I have yet to meet anyone who DOESN'T get hives.

The major angst for me was always, is this a cheezy-assed monologue that they have heard 48377 times and thus, have already dismissed me as being a total prat and an amateur? I mean, we all know not to use monologues out of a monologue book for auditions, but in the quest to be original are we all looking in the same place for something "different", thereby making THAT the new standard for tired old schlock no one wants to hear AGAIN?

Hives, indeed. And occasional gastrointestinal distress.

The question is, would you have to wear ears for this play?
Heh. Sorry. Will cease being a brat now.

I don't think so. But there are apparently puppets involved.

Puppets!
Puppets scare me kind of, you know.

Hmm. Is the title worth it? ^_^

I loathe monologue auditions as well. That said, I haven't done one since I was twelve. But I still loathe them.
