In Darlinghurst

"We remember you who have suffered or died at the hands of others. Women who have loved women; Men who have loved men; And all of those who have refused the roles others have expected us to play. Nothing shall purge your deaths from our memories."

And finally, Icebergs....

The one titled "From my room" is fantastic!

I had a dream about rainbows last night -- cool to see them realized when I woke up this morning here in your LJ

Wow, are you ever coming home? I think I'd have to stay...for a few years at least!

A week from today actually, but I'll be back, probably relatively soon.

Oh my god.
The memorial took my breath away...

The beach is amazingly beautiful, but the memorial, I didn't expect..

What's more... complicated, I suppose, about the memorial is that it's in a park where runaway gay teens hang out at night, using drugs and turning tricks. If even twenty percent of them were over twenty, I'd be surprised.

And during the day it's just this lovely, elegant, proud historic area. The wall across the street (which was shot in an earlier group of photos before I knew what it was), surrounding a historical site that is one of Sydney's original prisons. People were hanged there. But now there's scaffolding and workmen and a big sign saying "preserving our sandstone heritage".
