I tanked my audition last night, but got a great compliment from a producer who wasn't in the room, and who walked me outside to talk to me about what a great look I have and how much he wants me to come out for other shows that they do because he'd love to cast me in anything 30s or 40s... on and on and on.

As for the audition, I'm annoyed at myself and am accepting all the blame, despite strongly feeling that there were some aspects to the process that should have been clearer on their end (if you say "prepare to read", I presume you mean "read" not "memorize", and for characters that don't have monologues, I presume you'll have a reader in the room at least providing the other lines, and that if you've asked someone to prepare three scenes, that when they walk in, you'll have some request for them other than "just read anything").

Ah well, I've got other stuff, with clearer parameters this week. And truthfully, as morbidly funny as I find all incidences of Romeo and Juliet in my life (and I do), the show would have been a logistical pain in the ass for me.

Also, shit I am so over on Craigslist:
- "Entertainment executives" "auditioning" "cute" "very personal" "assistants"
- People doing stage productions of Moulin Rouge
- People castings "actresses" to hand out free crap on the street, in skimpy outfits, in the freezing cold for $10/hour

And dear god there are some cheap fares to Sydney right now. Want to run away (save me, Air Malaysia, save me!). Surreally, I miss getting up early and the breakfast scene above all else. Forget all this 19th/20th century city discussison. New York is a nighttime city, above all else, and coming back from a place like Sydney, you see why its fanciful versions are always things like Gotham City. Daylight, at least this time of year, seems like an incidental and accidental confusion, and when I think of summer in New York, what stands out the most for me about the light, is that odd sigh of relief people breathe at dusk, in bars, as the damn sun finally goes down.
