Odd weekend.

Found a Playbill from 1970 in a cab. promises Promises starring Jerry Orbach. There are ads in it for gold rings priced from $5 to $15 at fine jewelers. I wonder if it's worth anything. I really wonder how it wound up in the cab.

Kali and I ate fondue. Fondue is good, if sloth-making. Also, she bought me some blood orange tea, which is very pleasing to all manner of people running around my head, and some postcards that manage to capture all manner of my interests -- including a drawing of a mid-1700s salon, some portraits of Regency-era young men, and a Talouse Lautrec Moulin Rouge thingy.

The reading today was oddly good, I was being preoccupied about silly things, and felt weird about the story bineg ever so self-consciously cyberpunk, but the piece was written as humour, and aloud was much funnier than I had ever realized, and it was sort of fantastically fun. I wish I had some excuse to read it aloud again reall.y I was shocked by how into it people were -- mainly because the piece isn't in a genre I really write in, at all, ever.

[livejournal.com profile] dangerboy came out to see it and we had a "OMG fuck the dot.com era!" conversation that was really awesome, because it's always awesome when people get it. Kat, Mira and Kali were also there (we had great Thai food first, at a place that was previously Plan-eat Thailand after it was Planet Thailand (and had been sued by Planet Hollywood)) and it was really nice. I wish all of us had been in better condition all weekend. But it was fun, especially with the some assembly required Easter candy at hand.

Good stuff. Good stuff.
