It was designed as a three season arc (the writer had been trying to sell it for years, but couldn't compress the tale into a movie or miniseries length thing).

i'm equally displeased but not at all surprised. while i loved carnivale, it was a show with a small audience, a huge budget, a bad timeslot (9:00 on sunday nights is pretty much owned by abc), and it was probably a hard show to sell to the suits at hbo in the first place. i was amazed that it lasted for 2 seasons.

even so, it is a shame it couldn't be sustained.

Especialyl considering there was only one more season to finish the story!

really? i'd heard that the story was worked out in a series of 2 season arcs totalling 6 seasons. of course, i've heard all sorts of things, so...

I liked parts of it

but it dragged.

I really loved that series and it's too bad they couldn't have decided in advance to cancel so they could have wrapped the plot up this past season instead of leaving it as they did.

I haven't gotten to see most of the 2nd season due to cutbacks... but it was sad to see the quality of the first was missing some.

Found this--- and joined.
