There's a Gristedes on 81st and East End that has Anzac biscuits. What the hell? And the money goes to American veterans, so I guess they make 'em here now too, but they're still called Anzac biscuits. totally weird.
There's a blurb in this past week's PARADE magazine about it. Says: "Starting this month and through the summer, Unibic cookies will be sold in U.S. supermarkets to benefit Veterans of Foreign Wars. They actually are [sic] baked in Australia, one of our longtime allies, and are based on a recipe that was made popular by Australian and New Zealand women to support their troops overseas."
