kathrynrose had the opportunity to meet a gorgeous dog by helping it get to her new home. In her posting about it, i found out about

driveforlife which is a community where people willing to help transport animals to their new homes can be matched up with animals needing lifts. It's an ingenous use of LJ and answers the "oh if that homeless cat/dog wasn't so far away I'd take him in" problem.

I don't drive, but I'd encourage those who do and want to help out animals and people to check it out.
