I'll agree that the diction is pompous, but having read this several times, I found myself paraphrasing these two paragraphs (of all things!) when writing to my friend, and ultimately deciding that youth expresses itself differently in different situations. Your youth--and your idea of youth--and mine are in some ways radically different things--though not so much in definition as in application.
This just got horribly long and convoluted, so I will email you instead, probably in the morning when I am thinking clearly enough to limit my sentences to about twenty words.
