This show!

Last night was soooooo good.

The choices they are making are so weird, but this show is so goood.

OMG was the Caesar/Cleopatra sex hot. It also really spoke to the show's weirdnesses in terms of gender and sex, with how they juxtaposed with with the uber feminine lesbian stuff, and then here's Caesar banging the hell out of this insane, predatory tomboy (in manner and body) of a woman who knows when to dress up like a woman and place nice. So, very, very interesting. And, were I awake, I could actually say something other than, *omghottoecurldie*.

But I'm not awake.

I enjoyed it also. There was a lot of scuttle on some Rome sites last night about rushing through the war and their relationship. I am sure the war was a budget thing. I would have liked to see more of their relatioship, her continual seduction in particular, but that is my preference.

I found her characterization quite original and provocative. Instead of making her some dressed up doll they actually gave her quite a bit of dimension in such a short period.

The juxtaposition was also intriguing as you say.

I felt like they gave us a lot of their relationship with very little.

I feel like we saw that Caesar saw something of himself in her. Her crazines is also not dissimilar to Antony's and he's put up with his shit for years. His interest in her, his level of amusement, his awareness that being so drawn to anyone is probably unwise is all there, but its nuanced -- it's rally the ultimate show to fanfic in a way, because it gives us tremendous specificity while also glossing over lots and lots of details. It's an odd odd thing.

I'm so relieved she wasn'tjust an opium addict, because from the trailers that looked like all we were going to get. They really had balls and a half with their choices with her.

And the juxtaposition -- liike if it weren't obvious enough, it went right over the endge into astounding to me when he flipped her over. We were all just gaping in my house.

Ha! The hub called from Brazil all hot and bothered to ask me if I'd watched it - they have HBO on the rig. I'm still recording everything and haven't watched yet. There will be a Rome marathon while he's home this time.
