apartment

As summarized to my roommate, more or less:

Good news:
the work is beautiful
the track lighting is funny
the place has even more natural light that I remember
there's a perfect nook for the cat box
it's not a stall shower, but a small tub.
the smoke alarm/carbon monoixde thing is fine.
I like the neighborhood much more than I thought I did.

Bad news:
- we need security gates on two windows
- the building doesn't have a buzzer system yet
- it was much smaller than I remembered it, although empty apartments always look that way to me, and of course we saw it without the addition of kitchen cabinets. I think we're good, but we really will need a cleaning person to come in and as much as we can get rid of before the move is a good thing.
- Hey, we don't have a refrigerator yet. They know this, it'll be there before we move in. Based on the problem they're having laying out the kitchen (someone mismeasured something) it looks like it will be unavoidably smaller than teh current fridge. This is fine, we'll be less filthy. it better not be one of those half-heigh jobbies though.

I'm feeling more than a bit stressed. Someone tell me it's fine and beautiful?

The main thing seems to be the size issue .. and as you already pointed out, your perception of size is never accurate, especially considering furniture vs. not. So, it will look yet again another size when you get everything in there and will be just fine.

True, and there were like five guys standing in the middle of it sanding a door. It's not like I had the opportunity to think about how it would feel with just two people in it.
