Can I rant about the utter awesomeness of this show again? It keeps getting better and better. I feel like I can't blink when watching it -- there's so much subtlety in the performances, so much that passes between characters in glances and flickers.

Watching the evolution of Caesar into a fool who believes his own PR is fascinating. His one on one interactions with Antony and Octavian and Brutus are just fascinating.

And Brutus -- my god, talk about a character I never wanted to like and certainly never would have drawn this way, and yet... poor creature. Too slippery to keep himself alive, because in the end he has no allies, he's just a tool. It's so mediocre, and he's such a child, he can't see how it's happened to him until it's too late. I mean, sure, I like him because his features are too sharp and not quite right besides and his teeth are crooked the way mine once were (mine were much worse actually), but I just have all this strange compassion for the poor bastard (and a lame crush on the actor, it would seem from the amount of time I just spent Googling the fellow. Oi).

And since it seems clear that Caesar will meet his end by the end of this seaon, it means next season will be all about Mark Antony and Octavian. Yay Max Pirkis. He's such a damn excellent actor, and I'm so excited he's getting to be more than a precocious kid in all this.

So good.

I've been recording it and just watched the first three episodes tonight and I am so thoroughly hooked. I'm so glad you wrote this note as I didn't realize the new season had started. Yay for HBO encores.

Nope, no new season yet, it won't be aired until Jan 2007 (can you believe?) We're two episodes away from teh end of Season 1, but since we know the history, it's clear to see where they are stopping the timeline this go around.

Oh noooo! For some reason I thought there were only 6 episodes in season one and quit recording! I'm missing 7, 8 and 9!!! I'll have to wait for them to come around again before I can watch 10.

I need a personal assistant to keep track of these things for me.

Yep, all I've watched is the first three episodes. I've got 4-6 and then 10 recorded. (I love the DVR). HOT CLEOPATRA SEX. I can't wait! Which episode is it? I remember you talking about it. I may have to own this series on dvd because I know one or two viewings won't be enough.

OH! Don't care, don't care, don't care, I hope his mother squeezes his testicles until they pop and that Ceaser does go for the twist ending and kills him anyway so that we get more Cirian Hinds next season, whiney little twat.

Like, Brutus = Judas! Most conflicted evar! Special place in hell reserved just for him! And he's like, I dunno. Octavian could crush him like a grape.

Glad to see you enjoy "Rome" as much as I do. I love the dynamics and the character evolutions, especially Octavian's. I do hope the show keeps running, because it's fabulous (Hi! I'm the Emperor Fabulous. Why, so you are!). I loved the Cleopatara episode and I especially love Verinas and Pullo -- they're a great balance for the show and have a lot of heart.

It's been renewed but we won't see the next seaon until 2007. But what it should be, historically, is entirely focused on Mark Antony and Octavian, so that's totally exciting. Max Pirkis is just _amazing_. It's like the most awesome power dynamics show ever. It's so messed up and sublte and weird. I'm sad that Caeser is going to bite it though. I've really been enjoying Ciaran Hinds.

I've been enjoying him too, but I'm not gonna complain about more Antony/Octavian action. I still get chills with the whole Octavian's avenging of Verinas. So callous and brutal, and yet so very Michael Corleone :)
