Lost

I'm almost sure the Others are already dead. I can't give you a more significant sense of my theory of the cosmology of the lost Universe, but the bare feet just keep coming up, and just keeps sticking in my mind. These people are already dead. I know it, with arbitrary certainty.

You are correct.

I've been going through this with my sister and that never came up. Though, it fits in with my idea of purgatory and hardship bringing out the best/worst in people. Especially since the two people we were focused on died after they got what they needed most out of life.

And last night's assertion from Peace Corp Other Dude that the people on the list were only the good people.

Most interesting about that, it means that all of our heros back on the other side of the island = bad people. And some of them are obviously so. But the rest? It's very grey. I wonder what the criteria is, both for The Others and the show's writers. Certainly, it's a clever way to back into our current anti-hero craze.

It would explain the focus on the children. But, you know, out of the 48 people who survived from the main crash, I can't believe that only Walt is "good." Good must have a different definition to these people.

i'm not sure i agree, but i won't say you're wrong. my own theory is that the others represent a sort of cult/commune in line with the dharma initiative's experiments in social utopia. they have their own "civilization" if you want to call it that somewhere else on the island. they send spies into the survivor groups to assess their strengths, weaknesses, how much of a threat they pose to the commune, and most of all, who among them can be assimilated into the commune. chances are that when the experiments began, the commune was started with children (ala lord of the flies) and went from there. of course i see holes in that theory, but hey, so do most of my theories.

i also am convinced that ecko is a minister right now. (based on his 40 days of silence, promises to pray for rose et al, his stick that looks something like a shepherd's staff, and his interest in the bible.)

those are my theories.
