So I'm on this very low traffic Snape Yahoo group.

A spam mesage for cheap Cialis comes through.

Someone replies ranting about the evils of consumerism, psychiatric drugs and how people need to just toughen up and learn their lessons.

This person is, of course, utterly entitled to their viewpoints.

Just one thing -- Cialis is an impotence drug, which makes their little "I'm so Snape-ish and hardass" rant not work so well, since they didn't even know what the crap is.

May I just say--and this has nothing to do with your post except of course you mentioned Rome--I saw the latest episodes of Rome in my hotel room last night and I was literally shouting, shouting, at the television. I also fell out of the bed, I was so worked up about it. Oh my God. This show. This show! It's SO RIGHT!

Isn't it amazing? Have you seen all teh episodes thuse far, or do you have a gap in the middle -- I know you were having trouble keeping up to date.

And it is my mission to contaminate everyone with this thought: the guy who plays Brutus as a young Snape.

Everything on the show is just, fucking genius. I think I have a gap in the middle--I came in just as Pullo was smashing some dudes head into moosh against a wall? I think I saw the entire latest episode, though, so I'm "up to date" in that sense. That whole bit with the gladiators and Pullo being INSANE and Vorenus being INSANER in all the glorious angry wonderful ways just, it got me in the violentest cockles of my heart. God. That was genius. Just, impossible to watch and fucking brilliant.

Brutus, also, is one of the most incredible things I've seen on television. That's a terrible poisonous thought. It's so on, though. So on. Something about the nose and the mouth, and I don't just mean feature-wise.

Oh you've missed a lot then. You haven't seen the episode with the hot Cleopatra sex or where Mark Antony is crushing someone's hands, have you? Or the incest episode?

There's a tight bitter humour in the way Tobias Menzies holds his face in this role, so yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I'm also really interested in how in some moments he looks his age (he's around 30), and in others he looks 19.
