Despite sitting with the play every night for a week, I've just been unable to get the longer one written. i write three pages and delete, over and over again. This is relatively typical of me -- I'm a fast prolific writer, but what and when I'm inclined to write has rarely if ever been under my control. So I feel like a heel, and like Jessica (who is acutally doing the application) will be annoyed, but we're going to submit the play as it was performed as an excerpt, but with a new cast list and a summary of the rest of the plot and structure. Honestly, I'm a good salesman, and so is she, and I think this will serve her better than the half-assed results of my battles last night (which I knew I had to walk away from when the Hermione analogy I once gave regarding Justine while I was directing it became far far too apt).

Blarg. I'm annoyed with myself, but maybe they'll still accept it, and I'll have a month to fiddle with it while we wait to hear, and inspiration will surely strike somewhere in that timeframe.

And now to get dressed and not wear jeans, since Kali and I are going to Gramercy Tavern tonight. So you know I didn't wear jeans for about 25 years of my life, at all ever? I thought they were uncouth. I still do, but I'm fucking lazy. absurdly, this is something that constantly, constantly annoys me about myself, that I wear jeans -- I hate contributing to the casualization of society.

On a seperate note, crap people are useless on the NY forums around here. I mean, I often get good answers to things, but I as often get answers that either have not read the question, or propose an alternate solution to the original query, but that solution proves to be just as obscure to execute and is provided without hint of where to find the relevant resources.

In other news, I can't stop listening to London Calling. Is there a better album ever? especially for the matter of fact end of the world?

Got my Law & Order check, finally, which was abour $100 higher than I estimated. Yay SAG. Now if I could only manage to work about 40 more days this year, I'd have health insurance and pension credits.

Horrifying, isn't it? It drives me CRAZY. In summer at least it turns into constant linen capris. I mean, I can at least say I didn't wear jeans in Australia.

I've worked on teh regular one twice -- and this was just Conviction, and will be on in about 6 weeks i think. in teh regular ones, I know I'm not visible in one, and I never caught the other episode. I think I will be very visible in Conviction, because I'm standing by a doorway whispering to someone as the leads have a big fight.

Growing up, my mother constantly did the jeans-with-cashmere sweater-with booths-with blazer when going to casual dinners.

As such, I see nothing wrong with jeans. *g*

However, she NEVER let me wear them to Hebrew school, even years after all the other kids' parents stopped caring.

These days, I can't find pants that fit me without tailoring, so I've just about said bollocks to the whole thing and wear what's already in my closet.

I need more trousers--jeans and otherwise.

My current ardrobe task is subtley demodernizing all of my clothes, so that I don't look like a total freak, but that I'm always evoking something from a more elgant age I actualyl have a skirt with a bustle I bought at urban outfitters, and a slew of things that are quasi-Regency gentleman. My favourite is that someone at my office is the roommate of someone my roommate knows and asked her once years why i always tucked my pants into my riding boots. The roomie defended that I do _actually_ ride horses, but I was more satisfied when a year later it was what _everyone_ was doing.

In vivid contrast, several people I know who grew up in the midwest and southwest were horrified when they moved out to the West Coast, because people who wear cowboy boots here regularly tucked their pants into them. These people all considered this to be useless ostentation and universally stated that anyone who actually wore cowboy boots for any useful purpose always wore their pants untucked. Definitely an East/West style break, in addition to the fact that despite many obvious similarities, cowboy boots are not riding boots.

I've always felt horribly ashamed of myself because I don't wear jeans. I've just never found a pair that didn't irk the hell out of me, with the chafing and the riding up and grargh. I own a few pairs, but only wear them in extreme laundry situations. Sorry excuse for a bulldyke, me.

No, it really is a personal presenation issue issue for me. I mean, you don't wear them to inappropriate locales or anything.

Wow, other than myself, you are the only person I know of who feels this way. I didn't start wearing them until my early 30s, and while they are definitely convenient, I limit myself to pleated dress jeans (which are sadly getting exceptionally difficult to find). I had thought that I was one of the only people with this particular idiosyncrasy.
