There is a coffee machine at work. I cannot drink coffee, because I will get very sick, tremble for 8 hours and possibly seriously damage myself, but I do like the smell. Also, I like the noises the machine makes. Not the gurgles, and certainly not the grinding of beans, but sometimes it seems to sigh. It's like this strange presence in the office. I think it mostly discomforts people, the sighing.

There's a story in that sigh, somewhere.

P.S. I'm working tomorrow, but will definitely be around on Saturday and Sunday :O)

I'm working a lot this weekend, but I have the office to myself, so we'll still be able to talk

Okie. And here I sit, thinking The Ghost In The (Coffee) Machine.

My title selections get no better. Really ;O)

I like appliances that sign. My laptop occasionally burps quietly and contemplatively.
Of course, I also live with a wheezing cat these days.

Er, sigh, too.

I love that sigh. It does the same thing for me as the sigh of a steam iron when you set it down for a moment.

I can't have coffee any more either, aside from an occasional tiny cup for dessert as an indulgence. But I still find the sounds and smells of a coffee machine very comforting.
