While I have no particular desire to own such a thing, nor, in general, a particular pull towards the aesthetic in question, something about this puzzled, worried and very blonde doll utterly mesmerizes me. And it's largely [livejournal.com profile] sola's fault, for pointing me to the existence of such things in the first place.

And yes, if $800 porcelin dolls are going to exist, I think it perfectly suitable that they should look like an anime version of Lucius Malfoy, age 20, why do you ask?

And, in a seriously damaged leap of logic, I also take this opportunity to offer you Snakes on a Plane haiku and other poetry: http://www.snakesonablog.com/2006/03/05/snakes-on-a-poem-ii/ (in fact the totality of Snakes on a Blog is hillarious, if you're into that sort of thing).

Yeah, that's the other one on there I adore, no surprise I'm sure.

The Dream Of Doll D.O.T. dollfies (http://www.ecinter.net/frontstore/main/sub_catalog.asp?spin=y&mother=yes&catalog_num=786&mart_id=hoo933) (as they're called) are my favourites. I've no desire to own one, but they are so beautiful.

I don't know why those dolls creep me out. Or maybe it's not the dolls, it's the people I met who carried them around on their shoulders all night at parties, and talked about their dolls; lives as if the dolls were far more of interest than themselves.

And if that one looks like a young Malfoy, then the other one on the front page of that side at http://www.tensiya.com/ looks frighteningly like a young Snape.

Yeah, I know. my brain already exploded on that on someone else's journal.

And I've never known anyone who had one, although I do know some people who might well soon -- although they are entirely not teh type of cavort them around at parties.

I hadn't even heard of this cateogry of objects -- people on my friends list post photos or links sometimes and I alwys think "that's weird and pretty" or "how do you stumble across such a thing" -- that it's a whole subculture unto itself, I really had no idea of until about 30 minutes ago. eerie things.

They're made of a hard resin, actually, that can be filed and shaped to customize the dolls if the owner wishes.

Gosh. She's all victorian androgyny and dignity. I've never seen anything like her and I used to, being an enormously dorky child, go to doll shows.

Why are the rims of the eyes so red?

Damn. Somewhere at my mother's house I have a doll that was amde to look exactly like my aunt, in a tiny replica of her wedding dress.

Y'know, three *wibbles* in 24 hours is probably bad for my blood pressure...

They're the eeriest things. I guess that means they don't feel cold teh way porcelin does. Which makes them only slightly less creepy.

Yeah, i dunno what's up with me lately. And as much as I'm like "oh, I don't want to own one of those" the fact is if I ever make crazy money, I'm so getting two of those dolls, so the creepy little things can curl up together and disturb guests.

Heh. I'd apologize, but i'm very much not sorry. I already have plans for four definite, two probable, and another three or four just for pleasure.

And i spent a month looking for correct wigs and eyes, for serious.

Well, you'd have to if you were going to get into such a thing. As I noted in another comment, I don't need them, and they're not on my list, but if I ever make crazy money from this acting gig business such that a purchase of two of them would have negligible financial impact, I absolutely would/will.

Exactly, and it was in fact that that made me first peruse the site, as it was the doll that [livejournal.com profile] sola pointed out. if I ever made mad money in this acting thing, such that so absurd a purchase would be neglibile, I'd have to buy a set of them, and curl them up together somewhere conspicuous in my home, so as to disturb (or amuse) whoever might be about.
