Today I am having a day where I am doing the Right Thing, eventhough it will Suck and take me away from work I need to be doing (58 more JB business reviews by 3am). I hate my sense of, well whatever it is. Because when it's not making me strong, it's making me weak, or at least bad at time management.

There's this crazy shop near the subway here with all these empty bottles and essential oils and stuff. At least the shampoo adventure means I get to go in there and be fussy and at least have exactly the scent that I want. But not until I clean up the kitchen and get other pressing stuff done.

Little things become complicated. I must always have snacks with me, as they can't easily be gotten on the run. I WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER MILKY WAY BAR! Or chicken mcnuggets, and while these can only be good things I'm upset.

What some of you don't know if that I was vegan for over a year in my early twenties because of health drama. That sucked. This is much easier in a lot of ways, and ultimately the health situation seems to be less scary, but it still also sucks.

Intertexius updated. yay. And if I'm feeling particularly morbid later maybe I'll read In Academia again. Oh, wait, I won't because I'll be writing JB reviews until the end of the world. At which point, I'll be writing AC stuff. I need to build up another article queue.

Friends are going to X-men tonight, but I don't think I'll be making it. Better that I get this shit done and see that one alone.

Is hydrolized oat flour, way down the ingredients list, OK? The conditioners here are supposed to be terrific (you would probably want Too Shea), and they come in Unscented, and there is a $5 flat rate shipping sale this weekend.

The jury is out on oat, so probably for an initial detox, not my friend.

The problem is that wheat/oat/etc proteins are so damn good for hair like yours. Argh. Would it make a difference if you skip the inch or so of hair at your roots? Is absorption into the bloodstream the issue?

I'm concerned about skin reactions (as I think I'm having some), and also trace amounts getting onto my hands and therefor into me.

You mean the conditioner doesn't magically transport onto your hair? (Argh again!)

Well, if I see anything I will holler.

I know what you're saying. I had the same health drama and at your suggestion did the vegan thing for about 9 months. When I was told that I probably had high blood pressure AND gestational diabetes and should stay away from salt AND sugar (and of course artificial sweeteners also) I had people telling me that I had lived on a much more restrictive diet so it shouldn't be an issue for me. Thing is, giving up all meat and dairy is easy compared to avoiding all sodium and sugar products. I can't even imagine wheat.

I hope things get better for you.

Thanks. Everyone says it gets easier. It certainly has me up in arms about product labelling.

FYI, if you ask at Trader Joe's, they will hand you a list of their gluten-free products. I saw a woman do this last night. It will make your shopping a hell of a lot easier.

Please post your findings on the shampoo/conditioner creation front. I currently use some fairly expensive stuff (my hair dries out otherwise), and it might be nice to try and create something for myself that suits my needs, smells good, and isn't as expensive.
