The jizo is here, sitting in a small box from XS Energy Drink Rootbeer Blast that it was shipped in. I think this is fucking hillarious, and in general I'm just benignly happy about the whole thing. I'm not however opening it at work, because that could be loaded. The nice people from the monastary sent me an email thanking me and asking how I heard about their website. I don't think they get much business as it was quite a bit of work to find the thing; I've been putting off emailing them back, because "Google" seems an inadequate answer, but I am also hesistant to get narrative, as I so inevitably do.

In other news, it is very hard to dress like a gentleman when the weather is disgustingly humid.

I need to write 5 AC articles a day to make rent and such if the Germans don't come through with money this month. What should be my topics of the day?

Finally, saying "America scares me," trivializes the near sci-fi horror I feel looking at this: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/05/us/05liberty.html

What Acidophillus is for the unknowing public
Write about the Monastary since they were so hard to find
Things for a tourist to do in NY like a local
How to start writing

I'm sure I can come up with more later.

That article is terrifying.

What to expect/do when posing for an artist (or photographer) - could include nude modelling

Where/how to do skills exchanges (I remember being fascinated by your teaching English to some woman in return for her teaching you some other skill; I forget what that skill was now).

Things to know before getting on a horse for the first time (or, how to learn horseriding while living in New York)

I'm presuming you've already done articles about living as a coeliac? (Sorry, my Englishness is showing in that extra 'o' - heh!)

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-07-05 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Lots of celiac articles, and when you spell it that way I feel like I have coelencanth disease or something. ;)

I shall refrain from any wisecracks about something being fishy about you ;O)

Damn, I wish AC paid for writing by people outside the US. *sigh*

Well.... it's not a flaming cross.

Yet.

The picture alone was absolutely horrifying. Someone desperately needs to use that image in a well-made dystopian movie, where it replaces the Statue of Liberty.

I didn't bother to dig up my NYTimes registration password, so all I saw was the one-sentence summary, but it was enough.

I was sorta hoping to see a sidebar photo with Margaret Atwood popping up that said "Gotcha!" but alas, that wasn't the case.

I haven't had time to look over your list of recent article topics, but what about...

* The Ten Best-Kept Secrets of New York City (Could be anything from Cleopatra's Needle to that one can enter the Met on a donation, not regular price)
* Deciphering the difference between Broadway, off Broadway and Off Off Broadway Shows in NYC
* Top Ten Best Gay / Lesbian Films (From Jeffrey to Brokeback to Priscilla)
* Things You Should Know About Raising Pets in NYC (Could be strictly cats, if you prefer... including that some Vets make house calls and the Animal Medical Center is open 24 hours.)
* How to survive as a temporarily out of work actor in NYC
* What to know when auditioning for plays in NYC

?

I have a friend interested in a gluten free diet, I'm sending her to read you, is that ok?

Her name is [livejournal.com profile] wickedsin.

Yeah, absolutely. Tell her not to be shy if she has questions.

Thanks!!

Where did you get the jizo? Email if you would, for whatever reason, rather not post it.

www.zenworks.org

It's small, just over two inches high, but that's sort of the point. I can tell you their pictures don't do it justice.
