You know, sometimes my stomach is going to be fucked up and it's not celiac disease. Eating stupid things is still eating stupid things even if they are wheat free. It's sort of interesting. I think since I got the problem I've been eating terribly, just not wheat, in retaliation for all this. And I still can't really figure out if I have a problem with dairy and caesin or not -- I mean, other than humans do. Have I mentioned this shit is tiring. At least my headahce is gone.

Today's Ghosts update will wait until I come home. I read through the next several chapters last night and heavens they are problematic. Lots of little tweaks needed and I'm not in the mood for my prior ineptitude right now.

Yesterday my schedule got away from me for all sorts of reasons, so I am now behind on AC articles which I can just layer in to the rest of the week, but what a hassle.

Have you by any chance been tested for Helicobacter?

Dairy is hard to digest anyway. I cut it entirely for two weeks and stopped having problems. I think I need to cut it again. The good news is that there are pretty decent substitutes for most things, except cheese. Feta is the easiest to digest.

What have you been eating, besides Larabars?

Raw Revolution bars.

Seriously: steak, grilled chicken, humus, avocado sushi, Thai Kitchen noodle soups, guacamole, zucchini potato latkes, tuna.

Hmm. How do you feel about fruits and vegetables?

I loathe fruit, actually. Its texture really upsets me. Vegetables I eat, but I just haven't gotten back into a normal routine with them yet.

That is too bad, fruit is really good for digestion. And fruit juices just don't do the same trick.

Vegetables rule, but you know the deal now about never eating insoluble fiber (i.e. salad) without having some soluble fiber (potato, rice, whatever) first? Depending on your issues, that is.

Is your food taking a fast ride on the intestinal express? I'm not clear on which variety of ugh you are feeling from your food. Tell and I will advise. If you like.

Yes, I mean, not always, but it's clear in changing my diet to avoid the gluten problem, I've annoyed the fuck out of everything.

Brown rice is way higher in fiber than white rice, so that may have been a rather rude transition for your body.

Soluble fiber: the kind in potatoes, bananas, and things you can mash with a fork (when cooked, for instance). Tends to bulk up in the intestine in a good way.

Insoluble fiber: unmashable things like spinach and broccoli and grapes. Tends to take things with it on its trip through the intestine, which is great if you're ready and traumatic if you're not.

Solution: when faced with, say, a salad, make sure you do not eat any of it until you've put something soluble in your stomach. Have a few bites of potato, rice, boiled carrots, whatever. THEN deal with the salad. Be all European. It'll keep your body on a more even keel.

If things are already really jumpy, avoid the insoluble fiber and get your nutrients other ways.

I found an IBS cookbook in Vermont and it turns out the author wrote that "What to Eat When You Can't Eat Antyhing" webpage I sent you forever ago. Some good information on intestinal freakouts.

I should add that a large part of the problem is probably that brown rice is used in a lot of gluten substitutes, and I'm hyper-sensitive to it.
