My family is really complicated and strange, and my mom has a hard time with sci-fi and fantasy, believing she's not clever enough to follow it. She read the first HP book and enjoyed it but was too busy to read the rest, which I should perhaps bring her while she's stuck at home. While I think most of the people who know me who have met her would think the idea absurd, they also know she's funny and unpredictable and calls me when famous porn stars come into the shop where she works. So, like most things with my family -- it's certainly possible.
