lots of stuff

first -- my flight is booked to Phoenix Rising!

Continental Airlines $223 with all fees (I could have got it cheaper, but I really need to fly non-stop or I'm deaf for days, as it is, the odds of my being able to actually hear anyone until sometime mid-day Thursday are pretty low).

Wed, May 16 07:10 AM to 09:39 AM
Newark, NJ (EWR) to New Orleans, LA (MSY)

Mon, May 21 02:40 PM to 06:51 PM
New Orleans, LA (MSY) to Newark, NJ (EWR)

My mom is really fascinated by this entire trip. She's unclear about why there would be a Harry Potter conference, but thinks it sounds like fun. She had her shoulder cancer surgery thingy yesterday and it was pretty bad -- 3 hours of surgery and 3 hours of reconstruction. They got it all though and she should be fine, but she's out of work on dissability now for three weeks and she's bored. I suggested (in one of those brilliant moments of not thinking) that she should learn to use the Internet. Wonder how long until she starts reading Snarry, righto?

My father, meanwhile, having dawdled over the proofs of his bible for months (since there are lots of new people -- short summary: My father has written his own version of the bible and is self-publishing it. Whatever questions you have, my answer is probably, "I don't know!" although you're welcome to ask), finally submitted the final version and the physical object should be available for purchase in about 3 weeks. Religion is very complicated around here, kids. For the record, I try to stay as far away from this wacky project as I can, but it's the quickest way to get across "no, really, my family is actually weird" to people.

I used my cobalt blue glass bottles for the first time today. I thought it would only be funny to me. No, it's funny. Maybe, if I didn't habitually move the way I do and extend my pinky like I'm drinking tea it would be less funny, but probably not. Hillarious. Well cool, I get a giggle with dinner instead of bread.

I, meanwhile, am now going to have a watermelon ice for dinner and start the next chapter of Descensus.

Unfortunately Sudafed and pretty much all related drugs that are actually effective contain things I can't have because of my heart thing. I buy earplanes and pray mainly.

Oh, sod, forgot about that part. sorry. Best of luck then. Heat can also help once you've landed; hot showers/compresses.

Quite all right, it's really the only consistent pain in the ass thing with it.

One of the reasons I am arriving so early (the first event is a pre-party that night, and I'll be in the hotel by 10am) is allowing for enough recovery time that I may be able to socialize "normally"

All that class of stimulants actually act as tranquilizers on me, so I forget, despite having several friends with heart issues or other sensitivities. I knew they put me to sleep, but even I was a litle surprised when my doc made me quit caffeine because she was worrried about my heart and high pulse rate - and my pulse went up a lot as a result. Yay for self-medicating. It is annoying having to explain it to each new doctor though- the OT I just saw wanted to take me off caffeine for sleep reasons, and I offered to demonstrate how two cups of expresso cause me to fall asleep.

Wow, I used to date a guy, like 15 years, ago with that exact problem.

It's not terribly unusual; many people with ADHD/ADD are like this. It's why you can give Ritalin, which is speed, to hyperactive kids and they calm down. We're backwards.
