I'm probably going to see it again quite soon and hopefully I can get past the "Oooh, pretty!" factor enough to pay more attention to the film, although that sense of loneliness that you described did manage to get through a time or two when I saw it on Monday, but I generally ignored it because, honestly, it just cut a bit too close to the bone.
