my knee

So, with the insight provided by the maestro, I've been revisiting this thing with my knee.

Conclusions:

- women walk in a way that is terrible for our knees. We want our feet to be a needle were balanced on, and it looks lovely in heels, but it causes knee twisty-ness

- crossing my legs is definitely pushing the knee into a bad place. Back to being a good Hewitt girl and only crossing at the ankles for me.

- holy crap are my tendons tight. Only in a hot hot hot shower can I keep my knee over my foot without my knee or my ankle going ballistic. Guess it's time to reinvest in the worst thing about being a dancer ever -- rubber leg-warmers until I can

- build up the strength in my leg muscles that are so underdeveloped, that my well-developed ones are actually pulling the knee out of line.

At least I know what's going on now.

wondering if kinesio-tape would do you any good. I'll try to remember to stick some in my bag when I come out there for you to play around with.

One exercise I used to do, mainly for fencing but it also helps with riding, is to bounce on the balls of my feet. By maintaining good posture and bounce, I got a good stretchy-exercise for my calves, and it also helped with my balance issues. (I fall over when on my own feet. If I'm not riding, fencing, or dancing with a partner, I have no balance.) When doing this for riding, it's recommended that you stand with the balls of your feet on the edge of a stair, hold the railing, and do heel-dips. I'd recommend asking Maestro if that would help you, before actually doing it.

Did I already mention this to you? If I'm repeating myself, I'm sorry; I have no excuse, I can only ask for sympathy because of a Mom Moment. (It's like a Senior Moment, but doesn't get me strange looks.)
