I think I am starting to understand why so many buildings don't allow dogs. There are these new chihuahuas next door, I think I've mentioned. They are very high strung. I so much as go into my kitchen and they somehow feel my vibrations and then start barking for HOURS. It's like living next to some ridiculous creation myth -- frigging chihuahuas trying to bark the world into being.

For about a year I lived next to a Jack Russell Terrier with separation anxiety. He only barked when he was home alone - which was between ten and twelve hours a day.

Oh my gosh - as being one who is now associated with chihuahuas (even though I loathe the little rat dogs) - I may have to use the "bark the world into being" thing... that was too funny.

Yuck.

They have these things that emit some sort of radio signal in response to a nearby dog's barking... they're supposed to spare you this sort of annoyance. I wonder if they work. I don't have any annoying dogs close enough that I've bothered finding out. Regardless, you should stick an anonymous note under your neighbor's door letting her know that they're a problem. Hopefully she'll be embarassed enough to do something about them herself.
