So I did my laundry yesterday. In the bag coming back, I put my green Indian suit, still damp, next to a bunch of white shirts. All of the white shirts are fine, but one, which is covered with dye from the suit, eventhough the suit didn't shed dye onto anything else. What's up with that? I am consoling myself by saying that shirt was getting too tight in the arms anyway, but finding white shirts (which I love) that I don't hate, is an ordeal and this is seriously, seriously, irksome to me. My fencing shirts are thankfully pristine, but this thing is splattered with green and gold. Which come to think of it, does sort of put this in a "I know what I did to deserve this" category. Grrrrrr.

And I have no idea what to wear to the damn contra dance tonight, and no idea why I seem to be exhibiting self-restraint about it. Okay, fuck self-restraint, but I really wish the dry-cleaner wouldn't put creases into my billowy sleaves.

I was actually freaking out about what to wear earlier. I finally decided on a skirt but like it's the shirt that's the real problem. I want to wear something with at LEAST 3/4 length sleeves, because of my upper arms, but like, I don't want to get overheated. Arg.

I don't really. It was an experiment after the awesomeness of the barn dance, but it doesn't quite work for me... I like footwork, not stompy stompy, and when I do stompy stompy I have to do it in this sort of stately intense way to be into it, which does not mesh with the New England, hippy, men-in-shirts factor. I probably will do it from time to time, because it is amusing, but it didn't get me going like my other dance stuff.

Yeah, I'm not really into contra dance myself, but I was raised around it (my parents were the New England hippies; I was the kid haplessly dragged along). But it's not really well-known, so it's surprising to find someone outside of my parents' circle of friends who even know what it is.

Well because of the Vintage Dance thing, it comes up a lot in my vague social circle. And of course, above I had meant to write "men in skirts" not "shirts" because while they were also wearing shirts, that was not in fact the unusual part.

Could you alter the sleeves to a short style?

I didn't know about Rit color remover! Thank you. Honestly. if the sleeves have to be altered, they are just coming off. Between my shrinking the shirt a few months ago, and my arms changing to much from fencing, I think the sleeves had maybe another month in them anyway both on the lower and upper arm.
