(no subject)

I have many many things to say about the Oscars (and the party I was at and its intolerable guest), but right now I must merely say Milena Canonero! She won for the Marie Antoinette costumes. And she was dressed like a boy from another era. And she utterly delighted me. And fie on everyone at the party I was at who thought she looked terrible.

I utterly, utterly loved how Milena Canonero looked. My husband made a few nonplussed noises and I hushed him with "<lj user="rm" would understand" and, er, I hope that doesn't annoy you...

She was absolutely delightful! Her speech was wonderful. (I'm glad you reminded me, she had been eclipsed by the equally wonderful speech - in Italian! - from Ennio. The old man made me cry.)

I would say that intitally

the camera angles were unflattering and made her appear tired. Her outfit...quite dashing.

I thought she looked cute!

Well you have taste.

It's like, gay women understand that tits exist beneath clothes. Men, apparently, only understand the presence of tits if they are like "here, have some tits! just for you!"

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! Which would explain why many of the women were almost falling out of their dresses, I suppose.

Hi there!

I'm not really attracted to boys from ANY era, and I thought she looked adorable!

As soon as she walked on stage I said to Adam "oh she reminds me of Racheline!" which is a huge compliment to both of you.

You're right. She looked amazing.

At Jessica's party I actually said, "Oh, RM is going to write about her!" the second she walked on stage.

She was why I texted you. :-D

I thought immediately of you when I saw her.

Your phone never shows up with your name on my phone despite the fact you're entered in my phone, I just figured out it was you like 5 minutes ago, and was wondering if it was because of her or the Pilobolus penguins.

Oh I thought she looked keen!

I had planned to create a Gather account to post a series of a particular kind of book review there. I was wondering if you had any tips?

Tips as regards what? How to get it read? How to make money there? How to navigate its version of the social dramarama? I'm happy to help, I just need a bit more direction.

Yes ma'am. Sorry ma'am. :)

Making money would be a nice thought eventually, but mostly I want to get them read. And hopefully anticipated. For instance, does one carpet-bomb as many groups as possible? What about groups that seem to have 'lost the message'?

And, um, the social stuff. I would like to keep the Gather account pretty much separate from my LJ. I'd like to actually use my Real Name® *gasp*, and I'd like to keep it as personal shit-free and drama-free as possible. But I've barely set up the account and I'm getting connection requests. I know if I want to build up a readership such connections would probably be helpful, but some of these people look, well, stupid and annoying.

Any knowledge you could pass on would probably help me out a lot, so thank you ahead of time.

Accept every connection request unless it's truly evil and creepy as most people don't kno whow to shut off the thing that notifies them everytime someone they are connected to publishes something.

Use a picture that is or that you can claim is actually you. I get twice as many hits when people can see me. I also get insane marriage proposals from a guy from India, but you know, whatever.

Give the column a name.

Submit to as many groups as possible, always.

Including a photo in the article increases your chances of showing up on the home page.

Ask to make a request with everyone who comments on one of your pieces.

When she came on, I turned to Ian and said, "Oh my god, Rach is so freaking out right now and fangirling all over the place!"

He laughed and said, "I was JUST thinking she reminded me so much of Rach!"

I must send an apology to Jess, I totally never got back to her to decline her lovely invite. I'm a bad person.
