peeve of the day

The casual, sloppy use of the word "apprentice" most notably on Craigslist when people are looking for folks to work for less than minimum wage picking up their dry cleaning and include utterly no mention of what on earth these potential slave laborers might, in-fact, be accorded the opportunity to apprentice in (other than being an exploitive dick on Craigslist).

Granted, I am a hard-ass about nuance in language and apprenticeship is one of those obsessions of mine on a lot of levels, but seriously, someone other than me must find this not just irritating but unspeakably gauche.

It, well, I was about to type "irritates," but that only covers it if spread really thin, pisses me off.
